Printing on vinyl has revolutionized the sign industry. It used to be if you wanted a multicolored sign it had to be painted or layered with vinyl. Now full colored graphics can be printed directly on to just about anything. I'm acting like this just happened yesterday. The best way to approach this is from a cost perspective. Figure out how long you want your sign to last. Will it be indoors or out in the weather? Because this will effect the life of the sign. In the outdoors harsh conditions will reduce the life of the sign considerably. If a sign inside all the time it can last indefinitely and you may be able to save money by having it printed on a much less expensive material. I guess the main idea is ask questions and let the sign maker know where and how long you want your sign to be around. Many time you may get a good price on a sign but you may not be getting the quality you need. So if you do strike a good deal be sure to ask the sign maker how long the material he is using on your sign is going to last in the conditions it will be in.
