Refacing Acrylic Signs

Acrylic sheeting or plexiglass, as I used to call it, usually is what is used in backlit electrical signs. Many times you can replace the just lettering without having to pay for new acrylic also. As I said before on a previous page I do no do electrical signs but obviously I do handle just replacing the lettering on the sign itself. The process is the same as removing old vinyl from any smooth surface. If the vinyl is still intact and not cracked you can try a hair dryer and warm up the surface of the acrylic, it should be warm to the touch. At that point you can begin to peel off the vinyl by pulling with a steady tension. If there is any glue left on the surface that will have to be removed by using a solvent that can dissolve the glue. 3M makes a good solvent. I use a product called ProSol which works well also. Once you get all the old vinyl off you should be ready for your new sign. If you are having any problems email or call me and maybe I can help you over the trouble spots.  Mike @ 503-510-1002
